For the 9-1-1 episode “Sink or Swim,” our visual effects team played a key role in bringing the large-scale disaster sequences to life with realism and intensity. The episode’s central flood event required extensive CG water simulations, from the initial burst of the dam to the surging waves that engulfed city streets, homes, and vehicles. We combined practical effects shot on set with digital extensions and compositing to expand the scale of destruction, ensuring seamless transitions between live-action stunts and fully CG environments. Additional VFX work included debris interaction, floating vehicles, and water spray that reacted naturally to the actors’ movements. The result was a visceral, immersive depiction of chaos and survival that pushed the emotional and visual scope of the series.
