For the reimagined Mean Girls movie, our visual effects team worked to enhance the film’s vibrant, stylized world while maintaining its comedic tone. A major sequence filmed in New Jersey required extensive digital work to transform the environment into a convincing African landscape complete with CG foliage, animal life, and distant horizon extensions. Throughout the film, we also used subtle VFX to elevate the sequences, including numerous matte paintings and surrealistic camera moves. To match the movie’s high-energy musical numbers, we added playful effects like glitter explosions and spark bursts, blending practical elements with digital artistry to heighten the film’s fun, dynamic visual style.
